Hilary mentored Abena through her first year of teaching IB psychology and, from that, their friendship grew.
We think you're on this site because you are interested in what we have to offer, but sometimes it's nice to know who's behind-the-scenes. As a value-driven collaboration, Abena and Hilary very much put themselves into this work. So, if you're curious to know more about us, read on.
Welcome! I've been teaching for over 20 years both in the UK - I'm from Northern Ireland - and internationally. I've worked in Spain, Poland, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam, and I'm currently juggling being a teacher, CAS coordinator, and Grade Level Leader in Doha. My students say my classroom is fast-paced, a safe space, engaging, and fun...at least on the good days! π
In Doha, I'm kept on my toes by my husband and three kids, the eldest of whom now finds themselves in my psychology class! When I'm not in the classroom, you'll find me exploring the world, spending time with loved ones, or buried in my studies for a doctorate in education, focusing on wellbeing in schools.
I initially started this collaboration with Hilary based on a conversation where we both wondered what happened to psychology events. You know - those experiences where you get to network with other teachers and learn from each other. We listened to our communities, identified the need, and here we are today.
Balance is important to me, but I really am a learning junkie and spend a lot of time both exploring and creating learning resources. I'm also an ICF & AC trained coach with a focus on supporting students and teachers.
I'm an advocate for DEIB and am a member of AIELOC - I highly recommend joining if you are an educator of colour.
My psych heroes are Hilary (of course), John Crane (one of the kindest human beings I know), and Marie Stopforth (my coaching supervisor).
What else? Hmm...Outside of work, you'll catch me on the yoga mat, pumping away on the elliptical, or reliving the '80s on my roller boots πΌ.
If you're curious about anything else, you might find it on my LinkedIn profile. I thrive on connections, so don't hesitate to drop a 'Hi' anytime. I practice gratitude every day, and I'm always eager to pay it forward. Let me know how I can support you on your journey.
Wishing you all the best!
Bonjour from Hilary in Southern France π«π·
Hello! I'm Hilary Rowark, a retired educator with a rich background in teaching Psychology and leading educational initiatives across Asia and the Middle East. After a fulfilling career culminating in my role as Assistant Headteacher at St Christopherβs Senior School in Bahrain, I retired in 2021 to focus on personal projects and freelance teaching.
With a Master of Education from the University of Leicester and decades of hands-on experience in educational leadership, I've been fortunate to guide countless students through their IB Psychology syllabus, consistently achieving results above the global average.
My passion for educational excellence led me to establish and supervise various programs, including a coaching program for staff and a mentoring program for students, aimed at enhancing pastoral care and wellbeing.
Currently, I am engaged as a Psychology teacher for Pamoja, providing mentorship to fellow educators as well as private tutoring for students. My expertise extends to IB examining, where I've contributed as an examiner and team leader, shaping the standards of psychology assessments globally.
Outside the classroom, I am a creator of innovative learning resources and a proponent of blended and online learning techniques. Even in retirement, my commitment to education continues as I share my knowledge through workshops and training sessions, empowering the next generation of educators and students.
I cherish the connections I've made through my career and remain open to engaging with fellow educators and students alike. Feel free to reach out if you're interested in learning more about my journey or need guidance in your educational endeavours.
Best wishes,
